Referee Forms

Payments by SABR and your W-9 Tax Forms

SABR referees (regardless of age) are independent contractors, and SABR reports to the Internal Revenue Service any referee that earns $600 or more in a given calendar year as per the IRS requirements. Therefore, each SABR referee must complete an IRS Form W-9 before receiving any assignments, so we can keep track of your earnings and our reporting requirements.

The easiest way to provide a legible Form 1099 is to go online to IRS.gov and complete the form. That form can then be downloaded and sent to our Treasurer, Bob Rollins. In the event you choose to provide a handwritten form, you must include a telephone number in the event we cannot read your handwriting.

Each referee will have an account in our accounting system. Every two weeks, we will issue and mail checks every based on your completed assignments – provided your legible, completed W-9 (including your Social Security number) is on file with Mr. Rollins.

In the first quarter of each year, SABR will provide each referee that earned $600 or more in the prior calendar year with their individual IRS Form 1099. It will show what earnings were reported to the IRS. If you earned $599 or less the previous year, you will not receive a Form 1099.

Print and fill out the W-9 form at the IRS web site (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs- pdf/fw9.pdf) and return to:
