SABR (Soccer Association of Boca Raton) launched its TOPSoccer program in 2001 to invite and welcome children with intellectual and physical challenges and children on the Autism Spectrum to participate in our 8-week program at no cost to the participant. Since then, SABR TOPSoccer has grown from a dozen players to over 180 players.
TOPSoccer coaches are all volunteers from our community; some of these coaches have been with the program from the beginning. It is their dedication to our program that has helped our program grow each year.
TOPSoccer is a wonderful opportunity for our local youth to become involved in the special needs community by volunteering their time and energy every Saturday for 8 weeks. We call these volunteers “Buddies”. Buddies are from all of our local schools, starting in 8th grade through 12th grade. In addition to earning community service hours, the smile in the eyes of their new friend is a reward of itself. Currently, we have 220 buddies, and without them, our program would not be possible.
TOPSoccer is offered to our players at no cost to their families. Contributions are tax-deductible under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
